The story begins in 1982. Having received a professional degree in shipping, there was this urge to put my training and education to worthwhile use.
The result of this was the creation of TRIDENT SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED.
Unfortunately, the euphoria was short lived. The name TRIDENT was apparently very common and we began feeling lost in the crowd.
The search for an exclusive identity began, and ended almost immediately. What could be more appropriate than the name of the one person to whom I owed my very existence; my friend, philosopher, mentor – my father, Late DEB SADHAN BOSE. Hence the creation of DEBLINES PRIVATE LIMITED as a tribute.
THE PRESENT
From humble beginnings as mere shipping agents, employing a handful of people and working out of a small office space, the DEB GROUP today is made up of 3 individual companies, employing more than 50 people, working out of fully equipped offices in
7 port cities in India.
We have come a long way!
Yes, we have come a long way! From mere supporting agents to the General Agents of Sea Land Services Inc., in Calcutta, to one of the largest Shipping Agencies on the East Coast of India, handling almost 250/300 vessels every year.

DEBLINES PRIVATE LIMITED: Involved in shipping agencies, is the FLAG SHIP company of the DEB GROUP.
The other companies forming the DEB GROUP are:
- DEB CARGO MANAGEMENT & SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED: GLOBAL TRADING IN COMMODITIES and SHIP BROKING.
- MIRA MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY AND HOLDING PRIVATE LIMITED: Involved in property management and consultancy.

THE FUTURE
The DEB GROUP policy has always been “Slow and steady”. This is not applicable to our services to our Principals, but to our growth and expansion. It has taken us almost 40 years to consolidate our presence on the East Coast of India, where we now enjoy an enviable status.
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
All corporate decisions are taken by a collective body called the Management Committee, headed by the President, comprising of all Senior Vice presidents and General Managers who meet periodically. There is absolute de-centralization ensuring quick decision-making and rapid action.
On the operational front, the DEB GROUP offices have been divided into two zones.
Kolkata, the oil terminal at Budge Budge, Haldia and Paradip come under the
North Zone with it’s coordinating office being located in Kolkata.
Vishakapatnam, Kakinada, Chennai (Madras) and Tuticorin come under the
South Zone with it’s coordinating office being located at Vishakapatnam.
A Senior Vice President who in turn reports to the President on a daily basis heads each Zone. Each office has a senior Executive in-charge of the day-to-day affairs.

The DEB GROUP story is never complete without acknowledging those who have contributed to its growth and success.
First to be acknowledged are those wonderful individuals who, day after day, put in their very best efforts to make the organization grow successfully. Corporate formalities have compelled us to introduce designations, but, at the end of the day, we are all colleagues, bound together as one big family by the common bond called
DEB GROUP.
The next to be acknowledged is our Principals and Associates. They have been magnanimous in placing their faith in our hands. We have tried sincerely to respect and honor this faith. We have merged the interests of our Principals and Associates with our own. We, in our own way, participate in the achievements and failures of our Principals and Associates. May be this is why most of our Principals and Associates have never considered an alternative, and for this we are extremely grateful.
